On the afternoon of September 12th, Consul General Ryoo Chang-soo of the Consulate General of the Republic of Korea in Qingdao and his delegation visited the Weihai Campus. Qiu Daobin, Party Secretary of the Weihai Campus Committee, met with the visiting guests.

Qiu Daobin extended a warm welcome to Consul General Ryoo Chang-soo and briefly introduced the basic information, disciplinary strengths, and international cooperation of Shandong University and its Weihai Campus. He stated that the Weihai Campus is fully committed to building an “International Campus for Enhancing Open and Cooperative Partnerships”, continuously advancing international exchanges and collaboration. The campus has established long-term cooperative relationships with over 40 Korean universities, achieving tangible results in faculty–student exchanges, scientific research, and interaction. He expressed the hope that the Consul General’s visit would serve as an opportunity to further deepen exchanges and cooperation between the campus and Korean universities.
Ryoo Chang-soo expressed his gratitude for the warm reception from the Weihai Campus. He noted the geographical proximity, cultural affinity, and commercial ties between Korean cities and Weihai. He mentioned that the Weihai Campus has carried out extensive cooperation with Korean universities, and both its number of Korean international students and its scale of Korean language majors rank among the highest of the institutions he has visited in Shandong province. He stated that there is broad potential for cooperation in the field of education between Korea and China and expressed his hope to further strengthen educational cooperation and exchanges between universities of the two countries and cultural exchange activities for university students in Weihai
During the visit, the delegation also visited the Chinese Culture Experience Classroom of the College of International Education, taking part in activities such as rubbing and calligraphy.
The Consul for Compatriot Education from the Consulate General of the Republic of Korea in Qingdao accompanied the visit. Representatives from the International Office, College of International Education, and other related units of Weihai Campus participated in the activities.
